For the month of November I will be doing 100 burpees a day to raise awareness for #DiabetesAwarenessMonth!
That’s 3,000 burpees across the month! My aim is to have a vehicle from which to make people aware of, or remind them about, the serious impact diabetes has on the 422 million people living with it, and the almost 4 million people killed by it, every year.
This is also an interesting project for me and hopefully other diabetics as I will be doing a, less than scientific, benchmark of key metrics related to diabetes. I want to see just how much of a positive impact a relatively short amount of exercise each day can have. I will be benchmarking weight, average blood glucose, average insulin, resting heart rate and the time taken to do the 100 burpees each week.
I will update the below table each week with my benchmark metrics in the hope I, and others, can get a picture of what changes regular, high intensity exercise can deliver.
Start | Week 1 | Week 2 | Week 3 | Week 4 | |
Weight | 98.8kg | 100kg | 100kg | 100kg | 100kg |
Average BG | 7.8mmol | 6.7mmol | 6.5mmol | 6.7mmol | 6.8mmol |
Daily bolus dose | 11 units | 11 units | 11 units | 11 units | 11 units |
Resting heart rate | 70 bpm | 63 bpm | 52 bpm | 58 bpm | 60 bpm |
Time to 100 | 15min20sec | 13min05sec | 12min21sec | 10min18sec | 9min58sec |
Are you doing anything for #DiabetesAwarenessMonth?
